On December 1st, present and future Bear Creek Hockey Canada Skills Academy students took a Field Trip to Brampton to see the ECHL's Brampton Beast (affiliate of the St.John's Ice Caps of the AHL and Montreal Canadiens of the NHL). The Beast lineup featured such players as former OHL Barrie Colt Luke Pither and World Junior Gold Medallist Zach Fucale.

The trip was quite the experience and included:

Students were picked up by the Brampton Beast team bus (featuring four TVs, satellite, bathroom, kitchenette, card tables, bunks, and captain's chairs) at Bear Creek. Students were able to get a taste of pro hockey life on the roads as the Beast team bus ferried them both to and from Brampton - a much shorter trip than the Beast players and bus driver Blake are used to!

Students watched the Brampton Beast defeat the visiting Quad City Mallards at the Powerade Centre in Brampton. Students viewed the Beast win from a private suite and Beast mascot 'Boomer' also visited students in order to get his picture taken with Bear Creek's finest. The Beast also treated the students to Beast water bottles and Beast skate towels.

Following the game, Beast Assistant Coach (and General Manager of the OJHL's Kingston Voyageurs) Peter Goulet visited with the students and participated in a question-and-answer session.

Following Coach Goulet's visit, students had themselves a short skills session and then an intrasquad scrimmage on Powerade Centre ice.

Following the ice session, students celebrated a great experience with pizza and naps on the luxury ride back to Barrie.
